June 15: Exploring Granada

Early this morning, Saturday, we met each other near our school for the bus ride to Granada. The trip across Andalucía took four hours, and we arrived just in time for lunch. Our hotel, The Barceló Continental, is very nice! After lunch, we had two hours to explore the hotel, the adjacent mall, and the Zaidín neighborhood.

In the afternoon, we met with Álvaro for a walk into the center of Granada. He toured us through the city pointing out a mix of Moorish, Baroque, and Renaissance architecture. We visited the Royal Chapel, a part of the Cathedral of Granada, where the remains of Isabel and Ferdinand were laid to rest. To finish off our tour we climbed into El Albaicín, the Moorish quarter, to the Mirador de San Nicolás, which has a beautiful view of La Alhambra, which we will visit tomorrow. We then had some time to explore the center of Granada before our group dinner at the hotel at 9:00 p.m.
