June 20: Exploring Sevilla

Today was one of our last days at Salesianas with our teacher Rosa. After classes, we boarded a bus with Álvaro for the 90-minute ride to Sevilla. In Sevilla, we visited La Plaza de España, a monument built for the 1928 Ibero-American Exposition of 1929 which exemplifies some of the most well-known characteristics of Andalucían revival architecture. Later, we visited La Catedral de Sevilla, the third-largest Cathedral in Europe, where we saw the shrine containing the remains of Christopher Columbus. After some free time exploring the historic center of Sevilla, we entered El Alcázar (Royal Palace) of Sevilla, where we toured its gardens and Álvaro explained the Mudéjar architecture for which the palace is famous. After a quick bout of shopping, we boarded the bus again and returned to Cádiz in time to watch Spain beat Italy in the group stage of the Euro 2024 tournament.
